On Sunday last March 29th the Club took part in the Youth Club’s County Games Finals in the John Mitchells Complex in Tralee. On the day we had 7 Teams taking part, and they all put up great performances and had a great day out.
Our Under 15 Girls Soccer Team had a great game with Waterville in the county Semi Final, and after a 2-2 draw after extra time they lost 3-1 on penalties. Team: Maeve Leane, Joyce O’Connor, Edel Brosnan, Ciara Fitzgerald, Siobhain Brosnan.
Our U18 Girls had to play with 4 ,and they put up a great show before going down to Annascaul 4-0 in the county Final. Team: Loraine Hanrahan, Aisling Moriarty, Paula Fleming and Joanne McCarthy.
The Under 15 Boys Indoor soccer team had to play with 4 as well and lost 2-0 to Muckross in the County Quarter Final. Team: Ben Cooney, Sean Brosnan, Josh Horan and Adam O’Donoghue.
The Under 18 Boys soccer had a titanic battle with Lixnaw in their county Semi Final and the game went to extra time after a 2-2 draw, with lixnaw snatching a winner in the last minute of extra time to win 3-2. Team: Brian O’Shea, Shane O’Donoghue, Matthew Brown, John McMahon, Jack Sullivan, Con Enright.
Our first winners of the day were our U18 Quiz Team of Jack Griffin, David Riordan, David Moriarty and Jack Scanlon.
Our 2 Basketball teams were also County Champions with the u15 Team following up a 40 to 8 semi final win over Moyvane, with a 38 – 18 win over Ballybunion in the Final.
Team: Ellie Daly, Aoife Daly, Sarah O’Sullivan, Shauna Ahern, Siobhain Collins, Eddie Horan, Sean Horan, Danny Hickey, Adam Manley and David Shannahan.
Our U18 team also faced Ballybunion in their Final and after a close game all through, ran out winners 32 – 18. Team: Amy Galwey, Fiona Nelligan McGuire, Leona McEnery, Kerri McCarthy, Kieran Griffin, Luke Fitzgerald, Niall Brosnan, Johnathan Hilliard.
All winning teams, will now progress to the All Ireland Finals which will be held in Athlone in June.
